Bali Furniture, a Well-Made Investment
Bali furniture is some of the most beautiful, interesting and well-made you will come across anywhere. Although there is no end to the materials used in manufacturing furniture from Bali, typically you will find indigenous materials such as
teak and
bamboo, seagrass and banana leaf, coconut and shell mosaic.
After visiting for the first time, I was determined to have some of the beautiful items that I found for my own home. Although much of the furniture has a tropical feel, it is also possible to find beautiful items that fit into any type of décor. Today, I have elegant furniture items such as tables, chairs, desks and more scattered throughout my home that I purchased while visiting Bali. There has never been a first-time visitor to my house that hasn’t remarked on the unique quality of these items, and asked how they could get some as well.
Further, due to the handmade construction of most of the pieces, they are truly unique, and completely solid. There's no question that when you purchase a Bali furniture item from a reputable manufacturer that you are getting a solid furniture investment.
If you decide to purchase Bali furniture, it is important to find a reputable packing and shipping agent. There are always people in Bali that export items to other countries-start talking to others and you will soon get several recommendations. Try to get a reference from someone who regularly ships to your country, so you can ask questions about the details. In my experience, most other exporters will be happy to share their knowledge with you. Also, although shipping furniture is a fairly simple process once you do your homework, it is important to realize that the less you buy, the more expensive it is.
Finally, as always, negotiate the price of your purchases! Very rarely is there a circumstance in which the price is not flexible—if not very flexible. Of course, the more you purchase the more leverage you have to get the price down. However, even the purchase of a single item can be significantly dropped if you spend a little effort in bargaining.
